Nascar Thunder 2005 Pc
Not too long ago, admitting you were a fan of NASCAR racing was like wearing a sign around your neck saying, 'Hi. I'm a redneck!' Recently, though, NASCAR has gained more mainstream acceptance, as well as a more diverse fan base. With, EA Sports decided that the franchise was well past due for an overhaul. The result is a game that will not only appeal to existing NASCAR fans, but could even create a few new fans for the sport. The biggest change EA made in NASCAR 2005 is the addition of an in-depth career mode.
You take the role of a new driver working his way through the various NASCAR circuits. Along the way, your driver will pick up new sponsors, sign more lucrative racing contracts, build up his fan base, develop a host of friendships and rivalries, and ultimately join the big leagues and race in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series. And if all that isn't enough, it's even possible, eventually, to buy your own race team and micromanage it however you see fit.On my way to the top, my driver raced in everything from the open-wheel stock cars of the Featherlite division and the trucks of the Craftsman Series, to the familiar stock cars of both the Busch and Nextel Cup racing series. EA also added some performance cars and street racing into the mix. In fact, before I ever saw a start screen I was racing in a Dodge Viper against NASCAR driver Ryan Newman in a race through city streets. Diversity like this worked well to break up the monotony suffered in previous NASCAR games and to keep the racing from ever feeling stale. EA also made significant improvements to the game's grudge system.
In 2003's game, even a slight accidental bump during a race was enough to get on another driver's bad side. This time around, those accidental bumps are forgiven a bit more easily. Instead, the game incorporates a new 'Intimidator' system.
This system allowed me to target a car in front of me and either share a draft with him (making him more apt to be friendly towards you), or use an aggressive intimidation factor to rattle the target into moving out of my way as I flew past. One thing I learned quickly though is that whenever I pissed off another driver, he was more than willing to throw the race just to take me out of the equation. More than once I had a rival on the track that seemed to take masochistic pleasure in ramming my car into the side walls.
One driver even went so far as to slam into my front end so hard that both of us were taken out of the race. Admittedly, this does take away a bit of the realism in the game, but it definitely makes the game more interesting.
